Josh Bard

Managing and Coaching Career

Bard returns for his second season as the Dodgers' bullpen his first season as bullpen coach in 2016, the Dodger bullpen combined to set a franchise record with 590.2 innings pitched and 607 total appearances, both of which led the Majors...the bullpen also ranked among the MLB leaders in ERA (3.35, 2nd), opponents' batting average (.221, 2nd), strikeouts (633, 1st) and WHIP (1.16, 2nd)...Bard spent three years in the Dodgers' front office as a special assistant (2013) and professional scout (2014-15)…he was the bench coach for New Zealand's World Baseball Classic qualifier team in February 2016.

Playing Career 

The former backstop played in 10 Major League seasons with the Indians (2002-05), Red Sox (2006), Padres (2006-08), Nationals (2009) and Mariners (2010-11) before finishing his career with the Dodger organization in 2012 as a non-roster invitee and at Triple-A…he appeared in 586 big league games and batted .254/.320/.385…he was originally selected by the Rockies in the third round of the 1999 First-Year Player Draft…Bard was a member of the 1996 18U U.S. National Team, the 1997 and 1998 U.S. National Baseball Teams and the 2001 World Cup Team…Bard was the 1997 Big-12 Conference Freshman of the Year at Texas Tech and was a three time All-American (1997, 1998, 1999).


Joshua David Bard is married to Lindsey and they have three children - Luke, Hannah and Karis…his hobbies include reading, hunting and watching movies.
