LOS ANGELES -- Manny Ramirez went 1-for-3 with an RBI and Jeff Weaver allowed two runs in three innings for Class A Inland Empire in rehab outings on Tuesday. Ramirez's RBI single came on a misplayed hit to the outfield. He also struck out. Weaver gave up two hits, one walk and struck out three. Both players are on the Dodgers' 15-day disabled list, Weaver with a back strain and Ramirez with a calf strain. Weaver is expected to return to the Dodgers' bullpen on Friday. Manager Joe Torre said it is up to Ramirez how many more rehab games he plays in, but he expected there would be at least one more. Ramirez is eligible to return on Saturday.
Matt Kemp, hitting 4-for-15 on the homestand entering Tuesday, said Ramirez's return won't directly impact the selection of pitches he sees, but it will help the lineup as a whole because Ramirez intimidates the opposition. "They still pitch Many like Manny, it's hard to explain," Kemp said. "It scares pitchers, it's a positive for us."
