Dodgers reinstate Hyun-Jin Ryu from the DL

The Los Angeles Dodgers today reinstated left-handed pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu from the 15-day disabled list and optioned right-handed pitcher Carlos Frias to Triple-A Albuquerque. Ryu, who last pitched on Aug. 13 and missed 14 games with a right hip strain, will start this afternoon's game against the Padres.

Ryu is 13-6 with a 3.28 ERA (50 ER/137.1 IP) in 23 starts for Los Angeles this season.

Frias made his Major League debut on Aug. 4 and posted a 5.65 ERA in eight games this month. The 24-year-old right-hander has 10 strikeouts and just two walks while limiting opponents to a .232 average. Frias tossed a career high 4.0 innings on Aug. 17 vs. MIL.
