Urias pitched around trouble throughout the game, but didn't allow a run until the fifth inning. Despite the late run, Urias finished his outing strong, recording his final seven outs via strikeout.
Urias is the only teenage pitcher in the California League this season and the Dodgers have carefully watched his workload. Urias has not exceeded five innings in a game this season and Wednesday was just the second time he reached that number.
The cautious approach hasn't hurt Urias' performance. In 22 games this season, he is 1-2 with a 2.86 ERA. Urias has struck out 87 batters and walked 32 in 72 1/3 innings. Urias hasn't thrown enough innings to qualify for the California League pitching leaderboards, but would rank second in ERA and fifth in WHIP (1.22) if he were eligible.
