LOS ANGELES, CA - SportsNet LA is the exclusive 24/7 TV network of the Los Angeles Dodgers that takes fans behind-the-scenes of the team and offers in-depth access into the organization, providing an immersive experience with never-before-seen content and thousands of hours of comprehensive Dodger programming. This Sunday at 5:00 p.m. PT, SportsNet LA debuts the newest episode of "Connected With…," featuring Dodger infielder Dee Gordon sitting down with his former teammate and current SportsNet LA host Jerry Hairston Jr.
In the half-hour installment of SportsNet LA's signature interview series, Gordon tells Hairston about his family, his relationship with Davey Lopes and how he's adapted to the changes this season has brought him. An episode preview is available at http://www.sportsnetla.com/content/snla/shows/connected-with-dodgers.Wq_K9Fq_hJfr.html.
Quote excerpts from Gordon include:
On earning a starting spot at the Major League level: "Dusty Baker told me last year, 'Don't cry your way into any situation, play your way to your situation.' And that was the best advice I think I got."
On Davey Lopes: "The reason why he's been so great for me is because he gets on me like no other, no matter if I did good or bad. If you're wrong, you're wrong, there's no middle with him. I can't do anything but respect that. I don't want anyone to sugar coat anything with me. I had my career sugar-coated when I was a prospect."
On having his dad, Tom "Flash" Gordon, with him at the All-Star game: "It was great because I had been there three times with him. And to have him there with me - that was an awesome feeling. I think that's what hit me more than anything."
On his brother, Nick, being drafted: "I think I'm going to remember his draft day more than mine. I was on the airplane on my way to Colorado and you know, I'm petrified of flying…I normally go to sleep every time because I'm petrified. I stayed up to watch Nicholas get drafted. It was the most excruciating two hours of my life."
Following the debut of "Connected With…Dee Gordon," the "Dodgers Squeeze Play" featuring Gordon's career game on June 6, 2014 will air at 5:30 p.m. In that game, Gordon knocked in a career-high three RBI on three hits, two of which were triples, walked, stole a base and scored twice.
"Connected With…" has previously featured Dodger personalities Stan Kasten, Ned Colletti, Tommy Lasorda, Sandy Koufax, Darryl Strawberry, Dusty Baker, Ron Cey, Clayton Kershaw, Carl Crawford, A.J. Ellis, Andre Ethier, Adrian Gonzalez, Kenley Jansen, Matt Kemp, Hanley Ramirez and Brian Wilson.
