LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said Wednesday night the club wasn't close to making any trades, with the non-waiver deadline on Thursday at 1 p.m. PT.

"But the sun comes up and the world changes, sometimes," he said. "There's always August, too."

Colletti said the Dodgers continue to look for pitching -- starting and relief -- but find little available. He came as close as he ever has to declaring the top three prospects in the organization -- Corey Seager, Julio Urias and Joc Pederson -- untouchable.

"At this point in time, we don't want to trade any of the three -- period," he said.

A deal for any of the elite starting pitchers rumored on the block -- David Price, Jon Lester and Cole Hamels -- would probably require two top prospects, and the Dodgers don't deem any name floated to be worth undermining a player-development system under reconstruction.

While there has been plenty of speculation that the club is concerned about the recent struggles of starting pitchers Josh Beckett and Dan Haren, Colletti wouldn't confirm it. He said there was "nothing live" on a back-end starting pitcher and didn't sound close to acquiring a reliever, either.

"I don't see many out there," he said. "You have to believe you get something better than you have. There's a limited pool and less opportunity to do something.

"I think we have a real good club. The last four games are probably the best we played. We have a lot of talent. There's still upside. It's not like our needs are excessive. We're trying to take it from good to great, perhaps."

Colletti also disputed speculation that he's been shopping outfielder Matt Kemp.
