Dodgers part with left-hander Elbert

LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers reinstated left-hander Scott Elbert from the 60-day disabled list Tuesday, then designated him for assignment.

Elbert was a first-round selection (17th overall) by the Dodgers in the 2004 First-Year Player Draft. He last pitched in the Majors on Aug. 26, 2012, as he's tried to work his way back from Tommy John surgery in 2013.

Elbert made 15 rehab appearances (two starts) in the Dodgers' Minor League system this year, going 0-1 with a 4.26 ERA.

He went 3-3 with a 3.61 ERA in 120 career games for the Dodgers.
