Dodgers' first-year second baseman humbled by selection to NL squad

MINNEAPOLIS -- Dee Gordon wasn't initially sold on the Dodgers' decision for him to make the move from shortstop to second base.

"Then they told me I needed to because people were getting hurt," said Gordon. "I tried it and felt comfortable. The next thing I knew, I took off. It has worked out well."

How well? In his first full season as a second baseman, Gordon finds himself a second generation All-Star. His father, Tom Gordon, was a three-time All-Star during a 21-year big league career as a pitcher.

"I am not surprised," the younger Gordon said of his selection to the National League team this year along with Dodgers teammates Yasiel Puig, Zack Greinke and Clayton Kershaw. "I am grateful and humbled."
