New look Dodger Stadium behind-the-scenes tours

Over the past two off-seasons, renovations and improvements have given Dodger Stadium a new look and with it, the Dodgers have a revamped and new behind-the-scenes public tour of the stadium and Dodger history.

The tour with its breathtaking views and storied past is open daily to the public. The 80-90 minute tour of the stadium - described by Hall of Famer Tommy Lasorda as "blue heaven on Earth" - is offered three times daily at 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. New for 2014, the Dodgers are offering a pregame tour, which starts three hours prior to the first pitch on most game-days. Tours are conducted year-round, except on select holidays.

The tour begins and ends at the Top of the Park with a stop in the Tommy Lasorda room to view a newly produced historical highlight reel and the tour concludes in the Top of the Park Official Team Store that is open to the public daily.

Each behind-the-scenes tour, filled with historical anecdotes about Dodger history and Dodger Stadium, may include a visit to the Dodger dugout/field, a look inside the historic visitor's clubhouse, the exclusive Lexus Dugout Club featuring the team's World Series trophies, Most Valuable Player, Cy Young and Rookie of the Year Awards and a walk through the Vin Scully Press Box. While certain areas are already being utilized for game-day operations by the start of the pregame tour, the unique outing will also visit the new outfield plazas and bullpen overlook bars, and allow early access to the Field Level to view batting practice.

A full schedule of stadium tours is available online at Dodgers.com/tours, where fans can also purchase tickets, costing $20 for adults and $15 for children (14 and under), seniors (55+) and military personnel. Children ages three and under do not require tickets.

Private tours with special pricing for groups of 20 or more are also available and are perfect for baseball fans of all ages, from school field trips to corporate outings and convention groups. Group tours can be arranged by calling 323-224-1507 or emailingtours@ladodgers.com. For more information, you can visit www.dodgers.com/tours.

Dodger Stadium, which opened in 1962, has been the home of unique and special moments, Hall of Famers and World Champions. It is the third oldest continually used park in Major League Baseball and stands as one of the most unique and picturesque settings in sports, carved as it is into the hillside of Chavez Ravine, overlooking downtown LA to the south and the San Gabriel mountains to the north.

Through the years, Dodger Stadium has seen legendary baseball moments, such as Sandy Koufax's perfect game in 1965, the rise of Fernandomania in 1981, Kirk Gibson's walk-off home run in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series (one of 20 World Series games), the 1980 All-Star Game, the 1984 Olympic Games baseball competition, the 2009 World Baseball Classic Final and most recently Clayton Kershaw's first no-hitter. With musical extravaganzas that have included rock, pop and opera royalty, a papal visit and unique events such as an outdoor hockey game, an International soccer match, motorcycle racing and monster truck events, Dodger Stadium can also be placed among the great entertainment destinations in the country.
