DENVER -- Dodgers infielder Erisbel Arruebarrena, recalled on Thursday, was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday with a right hip flexor strain.

Arruebarrena was replaced by Carlos Triunfel, who had been optioned to make room for Arruebarrena.

Manager Don Mattingly said Arruebarrena was injured running to first base on his groundout in the sixth inning Friday night after replacing Hanley Ramirez, who had been hit by a pitch. Arruebarrena went 1-for-3 while completing the game but reported discomfort on Saturday.

Mattingly didn't mention the injury on Saturday. He said Arruebarrena was sent to the club's Arizona training complex and will have an MRI.

The injury is the latest in a swarm of ailments to the club's infielders. Chone Figgins is on the disabled list with a strained hip flexor, as is Justin Turner with a strained hamstring.

Third baseman Juan Uribe recently was activated after missing five weeks with a hamstring strain.

In addition, Ramirez has missed nearly 20 starts with shoulder and calf injuries, but he has not gone on the disabled list. And Minor League infielder Alex Guerrero has been on the DL since having a portion of his ear bitten off by former teammate Miguel Olivo in May.
