Dodgers exec White interviews for Padres GM job

LOS ANGELES -- Logan White, Dodgers vice president of amateur scouting, interviewed for the vacant San Diego general manager's job on Monday, the Padres announced.

White, 51, is in his 13th season in charge of the Dodgers' Draft. He has been responsible for the selection of two-time Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw and MVP runner-up Matt Kemp.

White also was instrumental in the scouting and signing of Cuban right fielder Yasiel Puig two years ago.

The Padres earlier announced that former Marlins executive Larry Beinfest had interviewed for the position. Boston assistant GM Mike Hazen and Texas assistant GM A.J. Preller are expected to be interviewed.
