LOS ANGELES -- Who's on third? For the first time in a long time, Dodgers manager Don Mattingly was able to pencil in Juan Uribe at the hot corner Thursday.

Uribe, who hasn't played for the Dodgers since May 20, was in Thursday's starting lineup against the Cardinals, batting sixth and playing third. Uribe was batting .303 with four home runs in 40 games before being placed on the disabled May 21 with a strained right hamstring.

"[Uribe's] a guy who's been good offensively, a guy who's a good defender," Mattingly said. "It lengthens our lineup a little bit, gives us more flexibility with J.T."

J.T., of course, is Justin Turner, who has filled in admirably at third base in Uribe's stead, batting .293 with three home runs and 19 RBIs in 157 at-bats. Mattingly said he would likely mix and match at third base for the time being, easing Uribe back into the lineup.

The Dodgers optioned infielder Carlos Triunfel to Triple-A Albuquerque to make room for Uribe.
