Uribe plays third in rehab game, nears return

KANSAS CITY -- Dodgers third baseman Juan Uribe and left-hander Scott Elbert continued their injury rehab assignments with Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday night.

In what probably was Uribe's final game before rejoining the Major League club, he went 0-for-3 with one strikeout while playing third base. He has been out six weeks with a right hamstring strain and could be activated Thursday night when the Dodgers open a four-game set vs. the Cardinals.

Elbert, coming off three elbow operations, pitched two-thirds of an inning in relief and allowed a solo home run in the wind and a walk. He also got a pair of groundouts. Elbert is expected to remain on rehab for at least several more weeks.
