LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers lost a sixth-inning challenge on Sunday against the Pirates, when the call of a hit batsman -- Russell Martin -- was confirmed. It took 57 seconds to reach the decision.
Zack Greinke's inside pitch was determined to have struck Martin with Andrew McCutchen on third base and one out in the inning. When Pedro Alvarez followed with a single, McCutchen scored to give the Pirates a 4-2 lead, with Martin taking second, where he was left stranded.
The Dodgers have won seven of 12 challenges.
The initial call was made by home-plate umpire Sean Barber.
