Led by outfielder Joc Pederson, the Dodgers' No. 2 prospect, and second baseman Alex Guerrero, Triple-A Albuquerque turned its Thursday night game at Fresno into a slugfest. The Isotopes hit five home runs, including two each from Pederson and Guerrero, and defeated the Grizzlies, 14-8.
Pederson, ranked No. 30 on MLBPipeline.com's Top 100 Prospects list, finished the game 2-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs. It was his second multihomer game in six days and his third of the season.
In 39 games this season, Pederson is hitting .361 with a 1.155 OPS and 13 home runs. He is one homer shy of the Minor League lead, which is shared by three players.
Guerrero went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs in the victory. The Cuban native is hitting .340 in 28 games this season as he learns how to play second base. He played shortstop exclusively before signing a four-year, $28 million deal with the Dodgers during the offseason.
