Rafael Furcal came up in the bottom of the sixth with two outs and the bases loaded. He worked Phillies reliever J.A. Happ into a full count, but grounded out to Chase Utley to end the inning and strand three runners on base.
-- That's the number of batters walked by Dodgers pitchers in Game 1. Against a lineup as dangerous as Philadelphia's, you can't afford to give out a couple of free passes -- let alone seven.
Loney got things started in the second inning with a line-drive solo home run off Cole Hamels. The homer was Loney's first since Sept. 19, and just his second this year at Dodger Stadium. Loney also singled in the sixth and eighth innings to tie for a team high with three hits.
He might have only faced one batter, but Troncoso got Jayson Werth out to end what was a painful fifth inning for the Dodgers. Troncoso kept the score 5-1 and made a potential Dodgers rally become just a little bit easier.
Ethier pounded out three hits for the Dodgers and also drove in a run on a fielder's choice. His single in the eighth inning gave Manny Ramirez a chance to put the Dodgers ahead, but a groundout ended the threat.

Randy Wolf, yes, Randy Wolf, pinch-ran for Jim Thome with two outs in the bottom of the sixth. There seemed to be some confusion when Thome reached base as to whether manager Joe Torre would elect to use a pinch-runner, but Torre opted to use his Game 4 starter rather than waste a position player in that situation.
5 AB, 1 H, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K, 4 LOB
Ramirez got the Dodgers back into the game with a two-out, two-run home run in the fifth to cut the Phillies' lead to 5-4. He came up again in the eighth with runners on first and third in an 8-6 game, but he grounded out to end the inning.
4 2/3 IP, 5 R, 4 H, 5 BB, 1 HR, 3 WP
Kershaw cruised through the first four innings, but unraveled in the fifth. His three wild pitches in that inning set an LCS record for most wild pitches in one inning and tied the LCS record for most in one game.
"Obviously we want to win [Friday]. We don't want to go into Philly 0-2, but it's a best-of-seven [series], so however we can get four -- whatever it takes -- we'll try and do it."

The Dodgers turn to Vicente Padilla in a crucial Game 2 at home on Friday at 1:07 p.m. PT. The Phillies will counter with Pedro Martinez. Los Angeles definitely doesn't want to go to Philadelphia down 0-2.
