Wilson goes one inning in first rehab outing

LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers reliever Brian Wilson pitched a scoreless inning for Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday night to start a Minor League rehab assignment.

Wilson faced three batters, striking out one.

Wilson was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with what was officially termed right elbow ulnar nerve irritation, but at this point it seems to be more a case of lack of arm strength.

Instead of shutting Wilson down to let an irritated nerve heal, he's been sent out to pitch only five days after going on the disabled list.

Wilson's already condensed Spring Training was further compressed with he felt a twinge in his twice-repaired elbow March 10. He didn't pitch again until March 15, one day before the team left for Australia, where he pitched one scoreless inning.

He was placed on the disabled list after allowing three runs and failing to retire a batter in San Diego on Sunday.
