LOS ANGELES -- A few lucky Dodgers fans around Los Angeles on Tuesday got to buy Dodgers tickets from an unconventional vendor at an unusual venue.
On Tuesday, the Dodgers announced the launch of the club's first mobile ticketing unit with local rap icon Snoop Dogg taking the truck on its inaugural voyage.
The Dodgers Ticket Truck is the first-of-its-kind in the Majors and will give fans throughout various communities access to Dodgers ticket sales.
The truck was collaborated on by West Coast Customs and will travel to different community festivals, events, concerts, parks, grocery stores and retail locations throughout the greater Los Angeles area. The truck's purpose will be to take Dodgers tickets directly to the fans and providing deals exclusive to the mobile unit, while making the Dodgers a more visible presence in the community.
"We are looking forward to giving fans the chance to purchase tickets in their own neighborhoods," Dodgers president Dennis Mannion said. "The fan experience begins at the moment someone decides to come to a game at Dodger Stadium, and we believe our fans will appreciate this process being simplified and brought directly to them like never before."
And while Snoop Dogg got the honor of taking the truck out on the streets for the first time, this is not the first time that he's been involved in a Dodgers advertising campaign.
Snoop Dogg, a longtime Dodgers fan, also appears in a "This is My Town" billboard advertising campaign that can be seen throughout greater Los Angeles. His billboard also debuted Tuesday and can be found on Sunset Boulevard at Olive by the House of Blues.
"I think it's a great billboard," said Snoop Dogg. "I thought that was a great look and a great partnership. Dodgers winning, Snoop Dogg winning, so it's a good thing right now."
