Juan Castro, who homered and scored four runs starting at shortstop Sunday, replaced Blake in the starting lineup.
Blake said he's had a serious hamstring injury in the past and said this isn't serious. He did some light running in the outfield, took ground balls and batting practice before the game.
"He's useable tonight," manager Joe Torre said. "Taking the game off yesterday, he'll benefit from two days. I'd rather be safe and see what it is tomorrow."
Torre said he started Castro at third to keep Mark Loretta on the bench for pinch-hitting. On Sunday, with Blake getting a day off, Loretta started at third base and had three hits and three RBIs.
The 35-year-old Blake played in 152 games last year divided between Los Angeles and Cleveland.
