BALTIMORE -- Dodgers top prospect Yasiel Puig was placed on the seven-day disabled list Saturday with a sprained left thumb.
The Cuban outfielder, signed last year to a $42 million contract, is hitting .333 with three doubles, a triple, three homers and nine RBIs in 13 games for Double-A Chattanooga.
Manager Don Mattingly said Friday, before the injury, that the club would have considered calling Puig up to serve as designated hitter for Interleague Play if the Dodgers played in another American League park after their weekend series in Baltimore.
