Dodgers' '13 slate features two series with Yanks
LOS ANGELES -- Former Yankees fixture Don Mattingly will lead his Dodgers against the Bronx Bombers next year in New York (June 18-19) and at Dodger Stadium (July 30-31) in Interleague Play, according to the 2013 schedule released by Major League Baseball on Wednesday.

The Dodgers also will host the Boston Red Sox (Aug. 23-25) and travel to AL East cities Baltimore and Toronto, while the Interleague Freeway Series against the Angels will be reduced to a pair of back-to-back two-game series in each ballpark at the end of May.

The Yankees and Red Sox provide fan highlights to the schedule, but the impact on the National League West race will start Opening Day, as the Dodgers kick off the season by hosting the Giants on April 1.

The schedule concludes with 25 of the final 28 games against NL West teams, the season ending at home with a series against the Rockies Sept. 27-29.

With Houston's move to the American League next season leaving both leagues with an uneven 15 teams, Interleague Play begins in April instead of being clustered in June and July. The Dodgers will play a three-game series with the Orioles in Baltimore April 19-21. They will be home against the Angels May 27-28, shifting to Anaheim May 29-30.

The Dodgers play three games in Toronto July 22-24 and Tampa Bay makes its first visit to Dodger Stadium Aug. 9-11.

Another highlight comes on April 15, which marks the celebration of Jackie Robinson Day at home against the Padres. The Dodgers, being the only team for which Robinson played, traditionally request and receive a home game on the date marking his Major League debut.

The longest homestand for the Dodgers will be 10 games, June 3-12, against the Padres, Braves and D-Backs. The longest trip of the year will be the last one, 10 games Sept. 16-26 through Arizona, San Diego and San Francisco.
