Kuroda strong in Dodgers' finale loss

SAN FRANCISCO -- In a final tuneup for the Division Series, Hiroki Kuroda pitched five scoreless innings Sunday, but the Giants rallied for a 3-1 win in the regular-season finale and ruined the managerial debut of Nomar Garciaparra.

Kuroda, the announced Game 3 starter for the playoff series against the Cubs, allowed two hits with no walks and three strikeouts. Andre Ethier doubled in the Dodgers' run in the fourth inning.

Giants starter and Cy Young Award hopeful Tim Lincecum struck out 13 in seven innings, including the first nine outs, raising his record to 18-5.

Chan Ho Park took the loss, allowing three consecutive hits in the seventh inning, the winning run scoring on Nate Schierholtz's RBI single off Joe Beimel.

Garciaparra was chosen to run the club in a continuation of Joe Torre's annual tradition.
