LOS ANGELES -- Fans are encouraged to give a homecoming welcome to the 2008 National League West Division champion Dodgers as they arrive home from San Francisco on Sunday night.
The Dodgers are hosting a Postseason Rally on Sunday at 6 p.m. PT at Dodger Stadium as the team is scheduled to return home after playing the Giants on Sunday afternoon in San Francisco. Admission to the rally is free.
Live video coverage of the Dodgers' team plane arriving will be shown on the Dodgers Vision video board in left field. There will also be live radio programming at the event.
Postseason Rally, formerly known as Rally Monday, was instituted in 2004 as an annual event in Major League cities for playoff-bound teams. This is the third time in five years that the Dodgers have hosted the rally, which also gives local and national business partners a chance to capitalize on the incredible excitement of the postseason.
But this is the first time the Dodgers have hosted the event on a Sunday and the previous rally in 2006 was held at Universal CityWalk in Hollywood. The previous rallies featured live music and entertainment, as well as raffle giveaways, including Dodgers merchandise and tickets to the division series.
The celebration of the Dodgers' 10th NL West title is scheduled to last until 8 p.m. PT. Dodgers playoff merchandise will be on sale at Dodgers team stores at the stadium.
