LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers manager Joe Torre tied Joe McCarthy for seventh place on the all-time managerial wins list Monday, when he picked up career win No. 2,126 after the Dodgers beat the Phillies, 8-6, at Dodger Stadium. Torre, in his first year in Los Angeles, has managed for 27 years in the Majors, taking the helm of the Mets, Braves, Cardinals and, most recently, the Yankees for the past 12 seasons, in which he won 1,173 games. No manager owns more playoff victories than Torre's 76. McCarthy also spent the bulk of his career with the Yankees, whom he managed to seven World Series in his 16 years with the club from 1931-46. He also led the Cubs and Red Sox during his 24-year career that ended in 1950.
