PHOENIX -- Hall of Fame manager Tom Lasorda and his longtime third baseman, Ron Cey, will represent the Dodgers at Major League Baseball's 2012 First-Year Player Draft. The annual First-Year Player Draft takes place this year from June 4-6, beginning with the first round and Comp Round A on Monday, June 4, at 4 p.m. PT. The first night of the event will be broadcast live on MLB Network and streamed live on MLB.com. Rounds 2-40 will also be streamed live on MLB.com on June 5-6. MLB.com's coverage, sponsored by CenturyLink, will include Draft Central, the Top 100 Draft Prospects list, Draft Tracker, a live interactive application that includes a searchable database of every Draft-eligible player, and Draft Caster. Lasorda, special advisor to ownership, has represented the Dodgers in the Draft every year but one since 2002. He will be accompanied by Cey, a six-time All-Star who joined Steve Garvey, Davey Lopes and Bill Russell in an infield that played together for 8 1/2 years. The Dodgers have the 18th selection in the first round and also have the 51st overall pick as compensation for Pittsburgh's signing of Type-A free-agent catcher Rod Barajas.
