LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers activated outfielder Juan Pierre from the 15-day disabled list Friday, and he is slated to bat leadoff against the Nationals in the first game of a 10-game homestand.
To make room for Pierre, outfielder Delwyn Young was placed on the 15-day DL with a right oblique strain, according to a club announcement.
Pierre -- who sprained a ligament in his left knee June 29 and went on the disabled list for the first time in his career afterward -- was expected to be out four to six weeks, but returned ahead of schedule after missing just 20 games. He went 3-for-6 over two Minor League outings Wednesday and Thursday during a rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas.
According to the club, Young suffered his injury while pinch-hitting Wednesday in Colorado.
