LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers will start their second homestand of the season on Monday as they take on the Atlanta Braves (Monday, April 23 – Wednesday, April 25) and Washington Nationals (Friday, April 27 – Sunday, April 29).
Giveaways will include Dodgers 50th Anniversary Sleeved Blankets presented by Natural Balance Pet Foods on April 24, Friday Night Fireworks on April 27, a Don Drysdale and Maury Wills bobblehead presented by Bank of America on April 28 and Kids Clayton Kershaw Replica Jerseys presented by Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream on April 29.
Monday, April 23 vs. Atlanta Braves – 7:10 p.m.
Roxanna Green will sign copies of her book As Good As She Imagined in the right field merchandise tent from 5:10 – 6:30 p.m. and during the first three innings of the game. As Good As She Imagined is a celebration of the life of Roxanna and husband John’s daughter, Christina-Taylor, and the hope that has risen from a nation’s loss and a family’s grief.
The Greens have also founded the Christina-Taylor Green Memorial Foundation, which is committed to honoring the life and memory of Christina-Taylor through charitable and educational projects that reflect and embody her interests, values and dreams. The Christina-Taylor Green Memorial Foundation is being recognized on Saturday by the Open Hearts Foundation, founded by Jane Seymour and James Keatch, as an organization that exemplifies selfless giving in the face of adversity. Recording artist Kristinia DeBarge will perform the national anthem and “God Bless America.” DeBarge was nominated for an NAACP Image Award and her hit single ‘Goodbye’ reached the Top 20 on the Hot 100 charts. She is currently collaborating with Babyface on her sophomore album.
The Club Marketplace is new at Dodger Stadium this year. Located on the Club Level behind home plate, this new store offers fresh sandwiches and salads, fruit and veggie cups, snacks including nuts, chips, candy and ice cream, beverages, beer and kosher and gluten-free items.
The second edition of Dodgers Playbill features Don Drysdale and Maury Wills on the cover. Inside are other Dodger features ticket specials and information about upcoming promotions. Fans receive the playbill when they enter the Dodger Stadium gates.
Tuesday, April 24 vs. Atlanta Braves – 7:10 p.m.
On Tuesday, fans with the first 30,000 valid tickets will receive Dodgers 50th Anniversary Sleeved Blankets presented by Natural Balance Pet Foods.
Alison Sweeney, soap star and host of “The Biggest Loser,” will throw out a ceremonial first pitch.
The official Los Angeles Booster Club will host its annual award ceremonies and throw out a first pitch. Booster Club awards will be presented to Matt Kemp, Clayton Kershaw and Dee Gordon.
Wednesday, April 25 vs. Atlanta Braves – 7:10 p.m.
April 25th is USC Night at Dodger Stadium and fans who purchase the special ticket package will receive a ticket to the Coca-Cola All-You-Can-Eat-Pavilion and a limited edition USC themed portable speaker. Tickets for this package are limited and only available by purchasing at www.dodgers.com/USC.
In honor of USC Night, USC Song Girls and Spirit Leaders will be on the field during pre-game ceremonies.
Friday, April 27 vs. Washington Nationals – 7:10 p.m.
Fans can enjoy Friday Night Fireworks from the field after the game. This week’s fireworks show will be set to music from the 1960s.
Children from six local elementary schools who received free glasses through the non-profit Vision to Learn, which provides free eye exams and free glasses to kids in Los Angeles Schools, will be recognized on the field during pre-game ceremonies. Dodger General Manager Ned Colletti, first baseman James Loney and broadcaster Fernando Valenzuela also filmed a public service announcement for the organization that will be shown in-stadium.
It is also the second annual Catholic School Night at Dodger Stadium and 1,000 students will be participating in the event, including groups from St. Ignatius School, Our Lady of Loretto, Incarnation School, St. Matthias, St. Philomena and other L.A. County Catholic schools.
The veteran of the game will be US Navy Chief Petty Officer Brian Brannon of Huntington Beach. Chief Brannon enlisted in the military after September 11th and has traveled overseas to Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.
Dodger alumnus Al Downing will sign autographs in Autograph Alley from 5:10 – 6:30 p.m.
David Wilson, a lawyer from Glendale who was chosen as a result of the Red, White and Blue Anthem Auditions, will perform the national anthem and “God Bless America” on Friday.
Saturday, April 28 vs. Washington Nationals – 6:10 p.m.
Saturday is Don Drysdale and Maury Wills bobblehead night presented by Bank of America and fans at the game will receive the first of 10 bobbleheads featured in the Dodger Stadium Greats Bobblehead Series. The Drysdale-Wills bobblehead features the 1962 Cy Young Award Winner and Most Valuable Player.
Don Drysdale’s daughter, Drew, will perform the national anthem and Maury Wills and members of the Drysdale family will throw out a ceremonial first pitch and announce “It’s Time For Dodger Baseball” at the start of the game.
Dodger alumnus Tommy Davis will sign autographs in Autograph Alley from 4:10 – 5:30 p.m. and the current “American Idol” finalists will be guests of the Dodgers at the game.
Sunday, April 29 vs. Washington Nationals – 1:10 p.m.
The first 15,000 kids 14 and under in attendance will receive a Clayton Kershaw replica jersey, presented by Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream.
Aaron Harang will host a group of military families at the game as part of his community program Aaron’s Aces. Each member of the group will meet with Aaron on the field and receive an autographed Aaron’s Aces program T-shirt and meal vouchers provided by Coca-Cola.
Sunday is also a Dodger Youth Baseball Day and Little League teams will have the opportunity to parade on the field before the game. It is also a Viva Los Dodgers Day, presented by State Farm, Chevrolet and Time Warner Cable. The season-long initiative is in its third year and celebrates Latino culture in Los Angeles at a family-friendly pregame festival held in lot 6 two hours prior to each Sunday's game. This Sunday, the cast of ¡Q’Viva! “The Chosen” Live and The Tender Box will perform. Actors Wilmer Valderrama and Eugenio Derbez will also make appearances. Mexican actor Eugenio Derbez will also throw out a ceremonial first pitch and announce “It’s Time for Dodger Baseball” at the start of the game. Derbez has starred in several novelas as well and sitcoms and is the voice of Donkey in the Spanish-language version of “Shrek.”
Dodger alumnus Billy Ashley will sign autographs in Autograph Alley in Viva from 11:10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
The Dodgers will recognize the boys and girls champions from the LAUSD Beyond the Bell/LA84 Foundation Middle School District-Wide Softball Tournament on the field before the game as part of the Beyond the Bell/LA84 Foundation Middle School Sports Program. The program offers boys and girls at every middle school in the Los Angeles Unified School District the opportunity to participate in sports after school. Each school sends their best team to compete at weekend regional playoffs, culminating in the District-Wide Championships. More than 18,000 LAUSD middle school boys and girls competed this year and the champions will be crowned as the LAUSD District-wide finals on Saturday.
