Trio of dingers not enough for Dodgers

Dodgers at the plate: Nomar Garciaparra slugged his first home run of the spring in the second inning, then he left after being hit on the wrist by a pitch. Andruw Jones also homered for the first time, and Andre Ethier hit his second Grapefruit League homer.

Cardinals at the plate: Colby Rasmus and Albert Pujols homered on consecutive pitches in the first inning, and D'Angelo Jimenez went deep in the third inning. Rick Ankiel added a solo shot. Pujols also singled and walked twice.

Dodgers on the mound: Chad Billingsley allowed three solo homers in three innings, and Jonathan Broxton gave up one homer in his one inning. Jason Johnson allowed one unearned run on two walks in two innings, and Yhency Brazoban yielded a run.

Cardinals on the mound: Joel Pineiro allowed a home run in three innings. Kyle McClellan was charged with one run in two frames. Cliff Politte and Randy Flores allowed one run each in their single-inning appearances.

Grapefruit League records: Dodgers 3-6-1; Cardinals 5-5.
