Cormier lands job in bullpen

LOS ANGELES -- While originally asked to accept a Minor League assignment, reliever Lance Cormier said the Dodgers told him on Monday that he would be on the 25-man roster.

"They called me this morning and told me that I had made the team," said Cormier.

Saying "the ball is in their court" Sunday, Cormier beat out Scott Elbert for the final spot and will now join a bullpen of Jonathan Broxton, Hong-Chih Kuo, Matt Guerrier, Kenley Jansen, Blake Hawksworth and Mike MacDougal.

Cormier, who pitched last season for the Tampa Bay Rays, made 60 appearances with a 3.92 ERA.

"I signed here to pitch in the Major Leagues," said Cormier on Sunday.
