Foot injury likely to end Podsednik's season
SAN FRANCISCO -- Dodgers outfielder Scott Podsednik will probably miss the rest of the season with plantar fasciitis, manager Joe Torre announced Tuesday.
Podsednik, acquired from the Royals for two Minor Leaguers, had an MRI on Monday and will fly to Dallas on Wednesday to get a second medical opinion. Surgery is a likely option to address the painful condition that afflicts the ligament connecting the heel to the toes.
Podsednik is hitting .262 with one home run and seven RBIs in 39 games with the Dodgers, having taken over left field before and after Manny Ramirez's departure and also served as the leadoff hitter before and after Rafael Furcal returned from the disabled list.
Podsednik last played Thursday in Houston.
