LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers will play host to more than 100 South Bay area youngsters on Friday, August 14 when the club takes on the Reds at 7:10 p.m. A full game-day experience will be provided to the South Bay youngsters ages 5 to 17 starting at the Harbor Gateway Transit Center where they will board the Dodger Stadium Express South Bay Service to Dodger Stadium. The 120 youngsters have been selected from various community centers including Harbor City Recreation Center, Diamond All-Stars Cheer, YWCA Harbor Area & South Bay, John Mendez Pony Baseball and Sharefest Community Development, Inc.
"The Dodgers continue to offer travel options to our fans. We are excited to highlight our Metro operated Dodger Express South Bay Service in conjunction with our Kids 4 Dodgers Baseball Program," said Naomi Rodriguez, Senior Director of External Affairs for the Los Angeles Dodgers. "This service is a convenient, safe and an enjoyable way to get to the game for fans living in the South Bay and along the 110 corridor."
This group of youth, many of whom will be attending their first-ever Dodger game, will also receive tickets to the August 14 game, Dodger T-shirts and a food voucher. Councilman Joe Buscaino from L.A. Council District 15 will be traveling with the youth using the Metro operated Dodger Express South Bay Service to Dodger Stadium.
"As a lifelong fan who bleeds Dodger blue, it is my ultimate pleasure to share the game experience with a new generation," said Councilmember Joe Buscaino of the 15th district. "Thank you Metro and the Dodgers for making it easy for new fans to get to the game by sponsoring transportation and tickets."
This experience will be made possible through a partnership between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Metro's Dodger Express South Bay Service, now in its first year, serving 5 stops in 16 miles along the 110 freeway corridor before reaching Dodger Stadium. This service is free on game day to any game day ticket holder.
The Kids 4 Dodgers Baseball program presented by Nike, now in its second year, provides 18,000 game day tickets, t-shirts, concession value, and transportation to several youth organizations, schools and other nonprofits in underserved communities throughout greater Los Angeles this season.
