Dodgers get positive news on Furcal, Padilla
DENVER -- Manager Joe Torre gave upbeat injury updates on shortstop Rafael Furcal and starting pitcher Vicente Padilla.
"Raffy had a great day today," Torre said. "He was running and tomorrow he takes ground balls. He's been hitting. He was about as good and as upbeat as he sounded in a while, [trainer] Stan [Conte] said. We're hopeful over the next couple days if he continues to progress, we'll see him Monday at home and maybe at some point next week we'll send him to rehab."
Furcal has been out since Aug. 3 with a lower back strain. Padilla has been out since Aug. 16 with a bulging disk in his neck.
"He threw a bullpen today," Torre said of Padilla. "If that turns out to his liking, it's reasonable to think he's close."
