Dodgers use four homers to topple O's

Orioles at the plate: Corey Patterson started a three-run third inning with a home run. Napoleon Calzado added a two-run triple.

Dodgers at the plate: Cody Ross slugged a three-run home run, Bill Mueller hit a two-run homer and Sandy Alomar Jr. and Joel Guzman hit solo shots. Matt Kemp tripled in a two-run fourth inning. Nomar Garciaparra added a two-out RBI single. Jeff Kent, in his first game since wrist surgery, had two singles.

Orioles on the mound: Eric DuBose started and pitched two scoreless innings. LaTroy Hawkins allowed two runs in one inning of relief.

Dodgers on the mound: Facing an opponent for the first time since undergoing elbow surgery last June, Eric Gagne retired three batters on five pitches and said his arm felt fine. Top prospect Chad Billingsley was touched up for three runs on six hits in 2 1/3 innings in his first start of the spring. D.J. Houlton pitched two scoreless innings after allowing three runs in one inning in his previous start.

Grapefruit League records: Orioles 2-5; Dodgers 4-2-1.

Up next: The Dodgers host the Red Sox on Thursday at 1:05 p.m. ET at Holman Stadium. Former Red Sox righty Derek Lowe starts for the Dodgers, and he will be followed by Takashi Saito, Franquelis Osoria, Joe Meimel, Jonathan Broxton and Yhency Brazoban. Bronson Arroyo starts for Boston.

The Orioles head home to Fort Lauderdale for a game against the Twins on Thursday at 1:05 p.m., and Cory Morris will start against Kyle Lohse. The O's are also expected to send Chris Ray and Tim Byrdak to the mound.
