Sherrill waits for chance to break funk

|
CINCINNATI -- George Sherrill has been off the disabled list since June 8, but entering Tuesday night's game at Cincinnati, he had appeared just once since his return.

Sherrill said his back feels good -- he originally went on the DL because of tightness -- although he said it was the type of injury he could have played through. Instead, the Dodgers wanted to play it safe.

Sherrill missed 14 games because of the injury and has struggled all season, posting a 0-1 record with a 7.80 ERA in 23 appearances.

"I've got to pitch my way out of this funk I'm in," Sherrill said. "It's just a matter of taking the ball and running with it. ... I haven't struggled like this for this period of time ever, that I can remember, but it's just one of those things. Hopefully I can get through this and help us win a pennant.
