Sherrill struggles in first rehab appearance
LOS ANGELES -- George Sherrill was greeted by Class A hitters with two singles and a double Tuesday in his first rehab start with Inland Empire. Sherrill allowed two runs in his one inning of work, and also picked off a runner and induced a double play.
Sherill is scheduled to pitch again Thursday at Inland Empire, in the fourth inning after Vicente Padilla pitches the first three innings in his first rehab start.
Sherrill, who has stiffness in his back, is eligible to return Tuesday from the disabled list. He'll likely make a couple of appearances for Triple-A Albuquerque before being reinstated.
Padilla has been out since April with soreness in his right elbow and likely won't exceed 50 pitches on Thursday.
